The Leadership Vacuum

The Leadership Vacuum: Why Do Some Leaders Suck?
Notes from AISC Steel ConferenceSession by Joe Contrera CEO of Alive @ Work LLC

Session Notes

Many leaders are always negative, not punctual, micro managers and are not reliable.

Be clear about who you are and why you are here.

Baby boomers believe in hours logged, generation-x believes in productivity.

We all have people with incredible talent but terrible attitudes.

Most who become millionaires have an abundance mentality and not a scarcity mentality.

Your people will leave if you don’t trust them.

What do you believe about:

  • Beliefs
  • Behaviors
  • Results

Changing your beliefs can change your brain functions.

Change (FACE):

Fear, ask yourself:

  1. What am I afraid of losing?
  2. What is the truth?
  3. What needs to happen?

Great leaders focus on their people and not themselves.

Teach your people how you think, not what to do.

Get your people to think forward and think big.

Judge a man by his questions and not by his answers.

    “incredible talent but terrible attitudes”
I’ve seen this so many times, it’s not even funny…
